Additional Personal Words from Phil
I have so many loves that choosing a career was painful. I still vacillate. After getting an undergraduate degree with a major in piano performance, a major in elementary education and a minor in chemistry, I became certified as a medical technologist and worked for nine years at the South Bend Medical Foundation. I then decided on a full-time career in music, set up a piano studio and enrolled in grad school.
Some miscellaneous facts about me:
I excel at science and was the university freshman chemistry student of
the year.
I love to cook and consider it an art form. I'll attempt any ethnic dish.
I'm an avid reader and am fascinated by etymology.
I am addicted to chess, Wordle, Words with Friends, euchre and Cards
Against Humanity.
I adore dogs!! Winning the lotto will find me sponsoring a no-kill shelter.
I am highly allergic to cats.
Ornithology is one of my passions and we spend significant time, energy and finances on the winged creatures in our backyard.
My favorite hobbies include cooking, writing, maintaining aquariums,
knitting, crocheting, painting, solving jigsaw puzzles, studying astronomy
and making greeting cards.
I make my living with my fingers but I still risk it all by going crazy
playing air hockey with my grandkids.
I am my father's son when it comes to horticulture. My favorites are
dahlias, hoyas, African violets and Christmas cacti.
I prefer theatre pieces that are a mixture of humor and drama.
My favorite actors are Tom Hanks, Amy Irving, Meryl Streep, Judi
Dench, Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith and Jeff Goldblum.
My favorite foods are cherry pie, McIntosh apples and anything
Mexican.
I am adventurous with new foods and will try anything you feed me
except for...hominy, creamed herring, malt, chicken feet, chitterlings,
canned asparagus, plain mayonnaise, squirrel brains or lamb fries.
I am a die-hard Notre Dame football fan!!
I identify as a bleeding-heart liberal who fights for justice and equality
for people of any race, culture or religion. God Bless All Nations!
It may be deduced that I am a registered Democrat.
I am confident that my children and grandchildren are the finest
anywhere.
